On Boredom
Boredom can make a mind to do funny things; then again, I suppose funny things can make a mind bored. Boredom, itself, funny, when you think about it. What exactly is it? Merriam-Webster Online defines it as “the state of being weary and restless through lack of interest”.
So when I hear the fine example of upperclassmen say that they’re bored with Liberty, what he’s saying is God’s plan for his life doesn’t hold his interest. The Bible says that Abraham wasn’t 100 years old until he had the son God promised him, and didn’t die until he was 175. People today die at 75, and teenagers drop out of high school to start families.
Life’s getting even shorter.
Who has the time to be bored? Who has time to waste? God was a wonderful plan for every life upon this earth, and to be bored is to be inactive. So don’t be bored, and the next time you feel you are in a “state of being weary and restless through lack of interest”, whip out a Bible, go ask someone how their spiritual life is doing, volunteer for the Red Cross, do something! God doesn’t care how you worship Him, as long as you do worship Him. So don’t be bored, be in Him.
